Tarleton does its part, beating Angelo St.

The table is set. Almost.
Tarleton State won Thursday, a surprisingly close game against Angelo State. Maybe it was national TV jitters or the Rams finally got it going.
The win puts the Texans at 8-2 and should help their regional ranking, especially if Texas A&M-Kingsville loses to Abilene Christian.
Nothing is for certain in the regional rankings, as WT has found out through the years. The Buffs opened 11-0 last year but could get only a No. 3 ranking and had to play a first-round game.
But playing a game is better than not making the postseason. The Buffs need to beat Northeastern State on Saturday, then beat Tarleton to assure themselves of a playoff berth. A loss makes it dicey.
WT coach Don Carthel said when he arrived in 2005 that he wants the Tarleton game against his friend Sam McElroy to mean something. It has every year. Maybe moreso this year.
