West Texas A&M might rather fast forward to the Tarleton State game. However, the Buffs game vs. Northeastern State will go on.
It's important for WT to use the game against the 1-8 RiverHawks to improve in deficient areas -- penalties, third-down defense and forced turnovers. Yet, the Buffs also want to keep healing and not sustain new injuries. Several key players are expected back for the Tarleton game, including running back Keithon Flemming. Flemming has helped shore up WT's banged-up secondary while he wears a soft cast on his right arm to protect a broken bone in his hand.
Northeastern is near the bottom in offense and defense, which would explain the team's record. However, Northeastern led 7-0 in the 2006 game in Canyon and held WT without a touchdown pass in the Buffs' narrow 14-10 win. WT can't look ahead.
