Former Dalhart star is SWOSU backup
While many former high school players from the Texas Panhandle were to play Saturday for West Texas A&M against Southwestern Oklahoma State, one was to see action for the visiting Bulldogs. Former Dalhart standout Curry Read is the backup to starting defensive end Cory Summers. Read is a redshirt freshman who has impressed coach Ryan Held. "I tell you what, he got in the weight room and worked his rear off," Held said of the 6-foot, 245-pound player who was fourth in the Class 3A discus as a senior. "He does everything you could ask to get better. He's a smart kid and has a chance to keep getting better."
